Brenda Mercer has coordinated events (trade shows, symposiums, workshops, winter carnivals), throughout the territories' three regions of Nunavut. With over 26 years of event planning experience, knowledge, Brenda consults in the areas of event coordination, logistical planning, budget-planning as well as providing administrative and bookkeeping support for not-for-profit societies, private sector companies. Further, Brenda is skilled at securing available support funding and identifying joint venture opportunities to bring partners together. In Brenda's over 10 years of involvement with the Nunavut Mining Symposium, she has gained a diverse network of contacts within industry and with service providers, who are a vital component to the success of any event. She has developed databases, mailing lists, effective form letters, and sponsor relationships. Her strong work ethic and consensus-oriented approach has enabled the Symposium to enjoy diverse corporate sponsorship and to show a profit in each year that she has been associated with it. Mercer also assisting with developing and subsequently provided coordination services for the Kitikmeot Trade Show (Cambridge Bay, Nunavut) for its first 13 years. And notably Mercer was contracted to develop and coordinate the 1st ever Kivalliq Trade Show held in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut in November of 2010. Mercer continues to provide coordination support as well as training Inuit beneficiary to assist with the coordination of the event now in its 7th year (2016). Other events Mercer has coordinated include organization of the 2008, 2010, 2012 Nunavut Petroleum Workshop, the Oil & Gas Summit (January 2015) held in Iqaluit, Nunavut and in the winter of 2013 Mercer coordinated the Diamond Drilling in Permafrost Workshop held in Toronto. Her work around the territory has made her attuned to Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ). One of Mercer's highlight event planning experience was the opportunity to provided 5 years of event planning coordination for the Omingmak Frolics in her Arctic home-town Cambridge Bay.
